As normalcy begins to return to our society, we as church leaders must endeavor to be up to date with the situations around and within the society as it affects the church as a body at large. It is not news that we as a church has adopted various medium of reaching out to the people in this period through the use of the various social media medium and house fellowships. As of today, we must have been in contact with our members and fellow brethren. We must not be left behind in the support for our members in all ramifications. As a church we must (if we have not):
1.Offer encouraging words and spread the news of hope.
2.Make use of the house-fellowship care links.
3.Offer emotional and spiritual support.
4.Regular checking should be done for our elderly brethren.
5.Welfare support based on our capacity.
6.Offer regular call for consecration, re-dedication, holiness and prayer, preparing us for rapture.
We need to be more prepared for the return of the church activities as the situation around us calls for strategic planning. This is a season of harvest and revival, all over the world people are turning to God for help and solution to the present world crises. Government, technology and knowledge in many people’s opinion have failed the masses. Many who have abandoned prayer are equally returning back to it. The opening of the Church activities will user in an avenue for us as pastors to reach out to many. As of this morning Churches in Germany resumed today, we pray that we shall experience this in our various locations very soon. Therefore, we need to be adequately prepared.
1. Prepare messages which will be focused on heaven, rapture and the last days. The events around the world today is an example of what the world might look like after Rapture. We have a practical examples all around us to drive home this kind of message to win more souls for Christ.
2. Develop an effective Church Assimilation method. It is often seen in our churches that we enjoy new visitors to our services on our Sunday services but how many are we able to retain. We can keep up using the get-and-lose syndrome. We must put all parameters in place to win souls and keep them for Christ (Soon we shall be evaluating this topic)
3. Train workers to be more responsible. Assign more duty to people as this period has redefine the people’s mind towards the Lord. Embark on training and re-training of members.
4. Personal Development cannot be overlooked. As a leader sir/ma, have you developed your reading ability? You need to read and read. Put yourselves above the current situation and must improve our praying time too.
5. Empowerment training is a must in this crucial period; as more people are losing their jobs based on the economic situation of the nation. Pastor! Now is the time to start thinking on how to develop our members on the survival skills during post-pandemic period. There will be opportunity for investments during this periods, put career development training in place to help members.
6. Youth Outreaches must be activated as many of the youth are currently in the valley of confusion. Situations around the world might mount pressure on the youths who will be faced with challenges that will require critical choices making. We must not be missing in their lives crucial decisions.
7. Effective welfare department must be setup in our churches to aid the members. The church as the rescue center must be ready to support both our members and non-members as many will be faced with the scarcity of food and resources and we have to cease the avenue to touch lives and make impact. Therefore we must be prepared to come to the aid of people as there might be challenges of livelihood.
8.Special attentions must be put on the elderly, they must be checked on regularly. Some of them might be reluctant at first in showing up due to the level of vulnerability but a pastoral care is important to call and check on them.
9. We must also be sensitive to the financial situations of our members. As insensitivity will not present us as a caring leaders. Undue pressure should not be placed on them so as to allow them to recover fully.
10. Marriage counselling committee must be up and running. Statistics shows that the rate of divorce cases during this period has increase in China. There will be a lot of issues to settle after the lockdown. A lot of couple uses their business at work to avoid discord at home. This lockdown periods makes the bond of love stronger between couples that are friend but to couples that are war mates, you can imagine the hurts and pains.
