The basic reason for struggles in
ministry, life and destiny in our present world is the lack or loss of vision.
Statistics show that only 4-5% of leaders and ministers operate and live in the
center of God’s will for their lives. The word vision is associated with words
like foresight or inspiration (a God-given idea). Vision is the picture of the
future- a glimpse into the blue print of God’s agenda for man. The Choosing and
the Calling into Ministry is God’s responsibility while discovery and focusing
on that Calling is our part to play. The discovery of purpose is what we call
VISION. The problem of the church is not that we don’t have people who can
occupy our leadership seats; our issue is that we lack visionary men. What
makes you a leader is not that you are capable to lead other people but that
you possess the ability to see what other people cannot see – The Power of your
vision makes you a vibrant leader. Not all men with eyes have the power of
sight, the word ‘Behold’ is found
1326 times in the Bible, thereby showing the importance of sight, “as far as
your eyes can see…” (Gen 13:14-15)

Vision entails the ability to see
ahead, ability to see what others
cannot see, understanding purpose of
existence. It can be an innovation
/idea that are given by God, which pushes one into settings of goals.

  • When Saul had God’s vision in view,
he subdued nations but when he lost sight of it, he could not retain his glory
and ultimately lost his life and those of his sons.
  • When Samson had a vision, not even the
Philistines could stop him but when he lost vision, he fell in the hands of a
strange woman and became an entertainer in the house of a strange god.
  • When Peter had a vision, he stood to
defend Christ but when he lost it, he was fast to deny Christ.
  • When Solomon had a vision, he loved
the Lord and but when he lost it, he loved strange women.
  • When Elijah had a vision he brought
down fire, but when he lost it, he ran from a woman Jezebel.

loses vision, life and ministry will:
(1)  Lack direction and will lack success
(2) Be full of errors and
mistakes
(3) Be full of damages,
hurts and bitterness
(4) Be full of wastage, frustrations and betrayals

Your vision is unique; others might
not embrace it, until they see you consumed by the zeal for it. Your vision
will take time to unfold, it demands patience. A plant don’t become a tree in
one day, it take time.
Therefore, your vision needs:

b) Your Prayers
c) Your Tenacity & passion
d) Your Patience
e) Your Character and

When our Church or Ministry is void
of godly vision, it gives chance for terrible things to manifest:
  1. The
running of the ministry becomes frustrating.
  2. There
will be high level of conflict and crises.
  3. There
won’t be progress and the church will be stagnant.
  4. There
will be high level of rebellion and carnality.
Vision is what the churches needs if
we want them to be committed to the ministry.

Killers of Vision

i) Wrong Counsel                j) Sin

       The Benefits of Vision
  1. You will be fulfilled, satisfied and your
    destiny is preserved (Romans 8:28).
  2. You can only become a point of reference in
    your own God-given vision.
  3. You will become a leader through your
    vision.
  4. When vision is acquired and pursue, safety
    is guaranteed.
  5. You will enjoy heaven’s resources and
    backings (Galatians 2:7-8).
  6. Time is utilized (time works with you and
    not against you).
  7. You’ll preserve lives of people you are sent
    to.
  8. All round blessings, unbeatable expansion,
    honor and dignity.
  9. You will become a solution to life bugging
    problems (Galatians 2:2).
What your vision will
do to you
  1. Engage you (Opens you up to the dynamics and
    required task on your life).
  2. Restrict you (Makes it difficult to for you
to do whatever you like. It makes you to walk in the ways of the Lord’s
    purpose for your life).
  3. Control you (It becomes difficult to make
choices of your own will. It takes over your thought, speech and life
style. It redefines your life ambitions).
  4. Reveal you (It will announce you to the
world when you are committed to it)
  5. Stretch you (It will stretch you and takes
    you beyond your own capabilities).
  6. Threatens you (It will take you out of your
    comfort zone)
  7. Satisfy you (It gives gladness and
fulfillment when engaged with a total heart of truthfulness and absolute
    commitment. You’ll feel fulfilled).
  8. Feed you (it is big enough to feed you. it
will take care of you if you take care of it).
  9. Keep you (Men of vision are preserved by the
vision they carry. They don’t die easily except their assignment on earth
    is accomplished).
  10. Outlives you (It will still be speaking
effectively after you have gone. It is trans-generational)
Therefore, for that vision to become a reality you must:
  • Understand
    the vision.
  • Desire
    and pursue the vision.
  • Observe
God’s instructions and direction critically as you pursue the vision.
  • Develop
yourself from time-to-time for the vision.
  • Constantly
carry out a performance evaluation as you run the vision.
  • Build
capacity, raise men as you run the vision.
  • Master
your field very well and endeavor to take risk in vision fulfillment.
